Reshape today announced significant upgrades to its High-throughput Imaging Device (HTID), the latest evolution of the Reshape Quality Platform. Built for modern QC laboratories, the updated system raises the standard on usability, performance consistency, and operational transparency. The result: teams can scale microbiology testing further, faster, and without sacrificing compliance.
Just one year ago, Reshape launched the HTID which brought automated imaging, AI-powered analysis, and end-to-end digital traceability to QC workflows for the first time. It's already transforming operations across food, beverage, and contract testing labs — [read more about that here]. Today, we're building on that foundation in a big way.
More adaptable. More integrated. More plug-and-play.
At the core of these upgrades is a system designed to fit seamlessly into existing lab environments. A new universal in-feed supports all standard 90 mm Petri dishes within ISO 24998:2008, meaning ISO-compliant labs can deploy immediately, with little to no calibration required.
We've also rethought how plates move through the workflow. In a typical QC process, plates are prepared and incubated before reaching the reading and data acquisition step, and that handoff has traditionally meant unnecessary manual handling. Our new Petri dish magazines eliminate that friction. They're portable towers that hold up to 24 plates (stacked) during incubation and load directly into the device in sequence, so plates go from incubator to imaging with minimal human touchpoints.
During plate preparation, agar or pressure differences can sometimes cause a plate to stick to its lid, a surprisingly common issue flagged by customers using the previous version (roughly 1:400 plates). This matters because the HTID separates the lid from the plate to capture a clear, unobstructed image. In the updated version, we've solved this with a built-in compressed air mechanism that reliably detaches even the stickiest plates, keeping your workflow uninterrupted.
Real-time visibility — right at the device
The Reshape Quality platform gives teams full visibility into every run, but sometimes you just want a quick status check without opening your laptop. The new on-device informatics screen makes that effortless. System status, sorting outcomes, and result distribution across categories like negative, positive, and TNTC are all displayed right on the device, in real time. Operators can monitor progress, spot flagged plates, and act on issues immediately, without breaking their flow. This allows for faster ‘on the floor’ decision making and maintains a QC process that practically runs itself.

Maintenance that doesn't slow you down
Cleaning and maintenance should never be a bottleneck. The HTID's redesigned architecture ensures all critical interfaces are accessible from the front, so routine maintenance is faster, safer, and easier. One less variable in an already tightly controlled process.
Same powerful core. Even more capable.
The upgraded HTID — together with the Reshape Quality software platform — continues to deliver fully automated imaging, AI-powered analysis, and standardized result classification at up to 450 Petri dishes per hour. All data is captured, stored, and structured into a complete digital audit trail, ready for LIMS or ELN integration.
Critically, none of this requires labs to change their core method. That means no costly revalidation, no regulatory headaches, just a smarter, more transparent version of the workflow already in place. We digitize the lab to deliver clear governance: better risk mitigation, faster root cause analysis, and improved efficiency across sites.

The HTID isn't just an upgrade. It's a signal of what modern QC infrastructure should look like, and we're just getting started.
